Monmouthshire Warriors

During research for my Newport's War Dead and Cwmbran's War Dead web sites, I have taken hundreds of photographs from the old newspapers of men and some women from almost every town and village in Monmouthshire. These are people who did not necessarily die in war but may have been wounded, pow's, medal recipients, promoted, mentioned in despatches, etc and rather than waste these pictures of persons who went to war on our behalf I have decided to open this web site where anyone with an interest in these individuals can view their images. The only information I intend to add to the photographs is their name and rank and they will be listed under the village or town where they were from. Others may be listed under "unknown" if I cannot decipher the text on the photo. This will be an ongoing project dependant on as when I take the photographs and will never ever be a complete list of the men and women from Monmouthshire that went to war. I have already suffered a set back in that hundreds of photographs that I have previously taken have now been lost because of a computer crash. This however will be remedied in the future as I have to to go back through those newspapers for other reasons.

If any information or photographs are used elsewhere from this web site or from my other web sites other than family membes of the casualties, but again if family members use them on other web sites, I would be grateful that you would recognise the sourceof the information that you found them on such as Monmouthshire Warrior's by Shaun McGuire. I have come across some people claiming my photographs as a resultof their own research.
The web site can be searched by clicking on the links below to the area of Monmouthshire that you have an interest in. Many more will be added in the future as I obtain the images.
